Hari ini saya belajar bahwa kita seringkali dihadapkan dengan hal yang mudah dan hal yang benar. Hal yang nyaman dan hal yang benar. Memang benar, hidup itu pilihan. Hasil yang kita dapat ditentukan oleh hasil pilihan kita yang notabene roh vs daging.

Ulangan 30:19
Aku memanggil langit dan bumi menjadi saksi terhadap kamu pada hari ini: kepadamu kuperhadapkan kehidupan dan kematian, berkat dan kutuk. Pilihlah kehidupan, supaya engkau hidup, baik engkau maupun keturunanmu,

Seringkali hal yang mudah dan nyaman untuk kita lakukan adalah hal kedagingan yang kelihatannya tidak mempunyai resiko dan tidak memerlukan pengorbanan. Sedangkan hal yang benar dan perlu kita lakukan terlihat merupakan hal yang berat dan butuh pengorbanan di awal yang terkadang tidak sedikit.

Matius 7:14
karena sesaklah pintu dan sempitlah jalan yang menuju kepada kehidupan, dan sedikit orang yang mendapatinya.”

Tapi saya yakin, hal yang berasal dari daging jelas terlihat menarik, mudah dilakukan dan terkesan tanpa konsekuensi padahal harga yang harus kita bayar itu mahal dan dibayarnya di kemudian hari. 

Ibarat kita menghutang dan suatu ketika kita ditagih berikut dengan bunga yang sudah bergulung sampai kita tidak sanggup membayarnya. Lebih menyakitkan bukan?

Kebalikannya, hal yang berasal dari roh justru memerlukan pengorbanan di awal. Kita harus bayar harganya terlebih dahulu, tapi kemudian kebaikan lah yang kita petik.

Saya percaya, jika kamu berbuat benar, terutama kamu berkorban untuk orangtuamu, Tuhan akan membalasnya berkali-kali lipat.

Pilihlah pilihan yang benar dan kamu akan memetik hasil yang manis.
Hal yang benar selalu baik. Hal yang baik tidak selalu benar.

Pilihlah roh daripada daging. Pilihlah hidup daripada kematian.

Galatia 5:16-26
(16)Maksudku ialah: hiduplah oleh Roh, maka kamu tidak akan menuruti keinginan daging. (17) Sebab keinginan daging berlawanan dengan keinginan Roh dan keinginan Roh berlawanan dengan keinginan daging -- karena keduanya bertentangan -- sehingga kamu setiap kali tidak melakukan apa yang kamu kehendaki. (18)Akan tetapi jikalau kamu memberi dirimu dipimpin oleh Roh, maka kamu tidak hidup di bawah hukum Taurat. (19)Perbuatan daging telah nyata, yaitu: percabulan, kecemaran, hawa nafsu, (20)penyembahan berhala, sihir, perseteruan, perselisihan, iri hati, amarah, kepentingan diri sendiri, percideraan, roh pemecah, (21)kedengkian, kemabukan, pesta pora dan sebagainya. Terhadap semuanya itu kuperingatkan kamu -- seperti yang telah kubuat dahulu -- bahwa barangsiapa melakukan hal-hal yang demikian, ia tidak akan mendapat bagian dalam Kerajaan Allah. (22)Tetapi buah Roh ialah: kasih, sukacita, damai sejahtera, kesabaran, kemurahan, kebaikan, kesetiaan, (23)kelemahlembutan, penguasaan diri. Tidak ada hukum yang menentang hal-hal itu. (24)Barangsiapa menjadi milik Kristus Yesus, ia telah menyalibkan daging dengan segala hawa nafsu dan keinginannya. (25)Jikalau kita hidup oleh Roh, baiklah hidup kita juga dipimpin oleh Roh, (26)dan janganlah kita gila hormat, janganlah kita saling menantang dan saling mendengki.

Bijaklah dalam mengambil keputusan. Bergaul dengan Roh Kudus dan minta pimpinanan-Nya dalam setiap langkahmu, niscaya kamu akan mendapatkan yang terbaik dari Tuhan.

Yohanes 14:26
tetapi Penghibur, yaitu Roh Kudus, yang akan diutus oleh Bapa dalam nama-Ku, Dialah yang akan mengajarkan segala sesuatu kepadamu dan akan mengingatkan kamu akan semua yang telah Kukatakan kepadamu.

Today I learned that often time we are facing options easy decision vs right decision, comfy decison vs right decision. It is true that life is all about choices. The result we get is determine by our decisions and it is about spirit vs flesh.

Deu 30:19 (ERV)Today I am giving you a choice of two ways. And I ask heaven and earth to be witnesses of your choice. You can choose life or death. The first choice will bring a blessing. The other choice will bring a curse. So choose life! Then you and your children will live.

Often time things that looks easy and comfortable are from flesh, looks like have no consequences and don't need any sacrifices. On the other hand, the right things to do that we need to do is hard to do and need sacrifices that sometimes are a big sacrifices.

But the gate that opens the way to true life is narrow. And the road that leads there is hard to follow. Only a few people find it.

But, I am pretty sure that things from flesh which looks easy, interesting and looks like no consequences is like a mortgage. It has price and you pay it later. It is like you have a debt and then it comes to you to pay with it huge interest you can't pay. Doesn't it hurt you so bad?

On the other hand, spirit things need sacrifice at beginning. We have to pay the price first and then you can reap the sweet fruit.

I do believe if you do the right things especially if you sacrifice your comfort for your parents, God will pay you more than you can imagine!

Choose the right things so you will reap the sweet surprise from God.
Right things must be good choice.
Good things (especially if you just feel it good to do) doesn't always be the right thing.

Choose spirit than flesh. Choose life than death.

Gal 5:16-26 (ERV)
(16)So I tell you, live the way the Spirit leads you. Then you will not do the evil things your sinful self wants. (17)The sinful self wants what is against the Spirit, and the Spirit wants what is against the sinful self. They are always fighting against each other, so that you don’t do what you really want to do. (18)But if you let the Spirit lead you, you are not under law.(19)The wrong things the sinful self does are clear: committing sexual sin, being morally bad, doing all kinds of shameful things, (20)worshiping false gods, taking part in witchcraft, hating people, causing trouble, being jealous, angry or selfish, causing people to argue and divide into separate groups, (21)being filled with envy, getting drunk, having wild parties, and doing other things like this. I warn you now as I warned you before: The people who do these things will not have a part in God’s kingdom. (22)But the fruit that the Spirit produces in a person’s life is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, (23)gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these kinds of things. (24)Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified their sinful self. They have given up their old selfish feelings and the evil things they wanted to do. (25)We get our new life from the Spirit, so we should follow the Spirit. (26)We must not feel proud and boast about ourselves. We must not cause trouble for each other or be jealous of each other.

Be wise in making decisions. Be close with Holy Spirit and ask His guidance in every step you make, so you will get the best from God.

But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor--Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you.
